THE WAR

1. Sweden will give Ukraine additional 5000 anti-tank weapons to fight off Russian invasion.

2. European Union Ambassadors approved of providing Ukraine with 500 mln Euro worth of military assistance.

3. Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda claimed that his country will continue to increase military assistance to Ukraine.

4. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz highlights that NATO will not take part in the war in Ukraine.

Important: Russian firepower in Ukraine fell below 90% for the first time since the beginning of invasion.

SANCTIONS

1. Ministers of Transport of Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia urged to ban road freight transportations to Russia and Belarus and limit port entry of ships belonging to these countries to the EU ports.

2. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announce that he is against ban on energy resources from Russia because of the war with Ukraine.

3. The main provider of meteorological data from western and other governments stopped cooperation with Russia on Tuesday and became the last weather agency which limited information exchange after Russian invasion in to Ukraine.

4. The new US sanctions package will target more than 300 deputies from the upper and lower chambers of the Russian Parliament.

Important: Ex US Ambassador to Ukraine Michael McFaul suggests that western countries continue receiving oil from Russia but will pay for the deliveries only after the war is over.

POLITICS

1. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in his address to the French Parliament said that he hopes Ukraine will receive EU candidacy before French presidency in the Council of Europe is over.

2. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy addressed the French Parliament and called to give more weapon to Ukraine to defend the country from Russian and also introduce more sanctions against Russia.

3. Together with friendly countries Ukraine is preparing a UN General Assembly draft resolution on humanitarian crisis in Ukraine as a result of fighting where the responsibility for that is laid on the Russian Federation.

4. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy was invited to speak at the European Council summit this week.

Important: European Court on Human Rights decided it will consider claims against Russia despite the fact that it was expelled from the Council of Europe.

SOLIDARITY

1. Switzerland is ready to grant a special “S” status, which was never granted before, to Ukrainians who left their country because of war.

2. German Labour Minister Hubertus Heil claims that Ukrainian refugees need to be given an opportunity to quickly find jobs in Germany.

3. This week Biden’s administration is planning to start processes that will facilitate arrival to the US for some categories of Ukrainians fleeing the war.

4. The EU will give 3.4 billion Euro to restauration foundations to help countries receive refugees from Ukraine fleeing Russian invasion.

Important: NATO leaders’ summit on March 24 in Brussels will coordinate the processes of providing Ukraine with protection against chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear threats.
