Zaporizhzhya NPP operates on the verge of risk - Energoatom


The Russian military continues to shell the nuclear power plant.
Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant operates with the risk of violation of radiation and fire safety standards. This was reported in the Telegram channel of NNEGC Energoatom.
There are risks of hydrogen leakage and dispersion of radioactive substances, fire danger is high, experts warn.
They emphasized that the periodic shelling of the Zaporizhzhya NPP by Russian troops from the MLRS entailed a serious risk to the safe operation of the station.
As a result of the attack on the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, emergency protection worked at one of the power units - and one of the three operating power units is now offline, the report says.
Energoatom clarified that during the shelling, the nitrogen-oxygen station, the combined auxiliary building, the pumping station for domestic wastewater, the fire station located outside the ZNPP and designed to protect against fires in case of emergencies at the station were seriously damaged.
The Ukrainian staff of the station continues to work and make every effort to ensure nuclear and radiation safety, as well as to eliminate the consequences of damage.
Zaporozhye NPP continues to operate and produce electricity for the needs of the domestic energy system.
Note that the station has been controlled by Russian invaders since March 4. Also under the occupiers is the satellite city of NPP-Energodar.
During the capture of the station, the invaders turned off online monitoring in order to hide their actions from the IAEA.
