World Bank to allocate $415m to Ukraine to support education

The Bank's assistance should make full-time education more accessible.
The World Bank's Board of Directors has approved the launch of the Learn project aimed at supporting the education system in Ukraine in the context of war and reconstruction of the de-occupied territories. This was reported by the Ukrainian Finance Ministry.
It is about the project "Improving accessibility and sustainability of education in crisis conditions in Ukraine" (Learn).
It is indicated that $415 million will be spent on:
- improving conditions for teaching and learning,
- ensuring access of students, teachers and school staff to safe conditions for face-to-face teaching and learning.
The agreement is planned to be signed in September this year.
The Ministry of Education of Ukraine notes that by the end of the year our country will be able to receive 200 million dollars in the general fund of the state budget. The remaining amount will be transferred later.
The Finance Ministry specifies that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 34bn dollars of direct budgetary support for Ukraine has been attracted within the framework of the World Bank mechanisms.
