Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky gave an interview to NBC News in which he spoke about the war, US aid, Putin's plans and more.

If Ukraine is defeated, Putin will send his troops to the Baltic states. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said this in an interview with NBC News on Sunday, 21 April.

If Ukraine fails to hold out, Putin will definitely invade the Baltic States. Why? Not because of any idea or strategy. Putin wants to regain the influence of the Soviet Union," he explained.

Zelensky noted that the Kremlin does not hide its intentions to return by force all the countries that were formerly part of the USSR.

Whether they are in NATO or not - he is not interested in that. It is not afraid of NATO countries. After the Baltic States, Poland and part of Germany will also be under attack," Zelensky added.

Zelensky also commented on Trump's "peace plan" in The Washington Post's publication that Trump allegedly plans to force Ukraine to cede territory in exchange for peace with Russia.

Zelensky said that he did not believe the rumours, but was ready to discuss the peace plan that Trump himself would present to him. At the same time, the Ukrainian president emphasised that peace with the Russian Federation cannot be based on Putin's promises.

It is impossible to believe Putin. What Putin says is a fact that this will never be the case..... Therefore, the strategy to end the war must be based not on the words that Putin says, but on the logic of a just end to the war. So that Ukraine remains an independent democratic state. I'm sure that everyone is interested in this - both Republicans and Democrats, and Biden, and Trump," said Zelensky.

We will remind, recently The Washington Post reported that according to Trump's plan to end the war of the Russian Federation with Ukraine "in 24 hours" Ukraine must give the aggressor country occupied Crimea and Donbass.

Trump's office called the news a fake. It noted that Trump will not accept any peace plan until he takes office and can properly weigh all options.

Volodymyr Zelensky called it a good decision that the US army does not have to fight Russia and Ukrainians are doing it.

The US army now does not have to go to war defending NATO countries. Ukrainians are doing it. The civilised world only provides weapons, and I think this is a good solution," he said.

Zelensky also said that the Russian Federation aims to seize Chasov Yar in Donetsk region by 9 May. If Ukrainian troops resist, the Russian Federation's plans to launch a counter-offensive in June will be defeated.

According to Zelenskyy, today the Ukrainian defenders holding defences in this direction lack equipment and artillery shells. The president expects that Ukraine will receive help from the USA in time, and the AFU will be able to repel the enemy and defeat the Russian Federation's plans for a counter-offensive.

Zelensky spoke about the importance of filling the aid package approved by the U.S. Congress to our Ukraine.

We have been waiting for six months. But we didn't just sit, we all fought together. I want to thank our entire team and the entire team in the United States, who did everything to ensure that we got a positive decision. Today it will help us a hundred per cent a lot. I believe that this support will really strengthen Ukraine and the AFU," the president said.

Zelenskyy emphasised that thanks to this support Ukraine will have a chance to win. But for this it is important to fill the package with exactly what the AFU needs most of all. Ukrainians need scarce weapons to repel the Russian occupiers.

This includes artillery, strategic long-range weapons, ATACMS - it is all important not to lose people at the front. Because we are losing them because we don't have the appropriate long-range weapons. Therefore, it, as well as air defence, which is so important, is certainly a priority today," the President said.

According to Zelensky, Ukraine is now waiting for a positive decision of the Senate and hopes that it will be able to receive aid without delays.

US businessman Ilon Musk indirectly accused the US authorities of continuing the "eternal war", but did not mention that the war was started by Russia.

Over the past 24 hours, 65 military clashes were recorded on the front, the AFU General Staff said in an evening bulletin on Sunday, 21 April.

In total, Russian troops launched four missile strikes and 37 air strikes, and carried out 49 shellings from multiple rocket launchers on Ukrainian troops' positions and populated areas.

The Kremlin can take advantage of the situation when US help has not yet arrived and intensify aggression. This was stated by the speaker of the AFU Air Force, Ilya Yevlash, on air during a telethon.
