Defence forces successfully deter Russian assaults in the Dnieper delta - rumours of a DRG landing in Kherson denied.

Russian troops continue to try to gain a foothold in the island zone of the Dnieper delta, but all the assaults are effectively repelled by the Ukrainian Defence Forces. A representative of the southern Ukrainian Defence Forces, Vladyslav Voloshyn, said this in a commentary for Ukrinform.

According to Voloshyn, the Russian military carry out up to ten assaults daily on the islands of Kozulinsky, Zabiche, Nestrizh, Belogrud and in the area of Antonivskyi bridges. The enemy's goal is to seize a bridgehead for the subsequent forcing of the Dnieper. However, the AFU is effectively restraining the enemy's attempts to advance.

Intelligence does not record the accumulation of an enemy group capable of large-scale forcing and seizure of such a city as Kherson," the spokesman stressed.

Disinformation about the DRG in Kherson

Voloshin categorically denied information about the alleged landing of Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups in Kherson. According to him, this is an element of an enemy information and psychological operation (IPSO) aimed at destabilising the situation in the rear.

Even if such a group had landed, it could not have taken control of Kherson - it would have been quickly destroyed," he said.

Strikes on civilian infrastructure and a bridge in Kherson

The enemy continues to strike the city with drones, unguided rockets and guided aerial bombs (CABs), targeting civilian infrastructure and social facilities.

Voloshyn called the damage to the bridge connecting the mainland part of Kherson with the Korabel microdistrict a terrorist act against civilians, stressing that the facility was not of strategic importance for defence, but ensured the livelihood of citizens.

Despite the difficulty in intercepting KABs - as Russian aircraft launch them from an unreachable distance - the Ukrainian military and special services continue to strike enemy airfields and shoot down aircraft, deterring Russian aviation activity.
