We will do everything possible to stabilise the front - Zelenskyy

The situation on the eastern direction of the front remains one of the most difficult, but every effort will be made to stabilise it in January. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an interview during a telethon.
Difficulties in the east
According to Zelensky, Russian troops have concentrated significantly more forces on this section of the front than in other directions. This creates serious pressure on Ukrainian servicemen.
"They put pressure on the guys who are tired, and this is a fact. We will do everything to stabilise the front at least in January. It is very difficult, but if everything promised arrives on time and the new US administration supports Ukraine, we will be able to achieve stabilisation," the president said.
Zelenskyy stressed that the situation can be stabilised not only through arms deliveries, but also through new trained units, which are currently being trained abroad. According to him, the plans envisage the Ukrainian military receiving the necessary equipment and performing tasks during January.
Fighting for Pokrovsk
Fierce fighting continues in the village of Novovasilievka, south of Pokrovsk. According to analysts of the DeepState project, from 30 December to 1 January, Russian troops carried out active assaults from the south and east.
The Russian attacks are carried out by infantry forces supported by armoured vehicles and light artillery. The situation in the village remains extremely tense. According to analysts, the positions of the troops are mixed, which leads to a chaotic tactical situation. The Ukrainian defence in this direction continues to strengthen despite the enemy's numerical superiority.
