Washington Post explained why the Ukrainians are not advancing on Kherson

Russia is deploying thousands of new soldiers to the Kherson region.

Washington Post analysts report, citing their sources in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, that Ukraine is not yet advancing south because it does not have enough weapons.

As noted in the article, the defenders of Ukraine are forced to wage a fierce struggle in open space, which the occupiers will shoot. At the same time, Russian troops have recently sent significant reinforcements near Kherson.

So, according to intelligence officers, the invaders have transferred about three thousand people to the south of Ukraine and are preparing for new battles with the Ukrainians. In particular, significant reinforcements were sent to the Kherson region.

Kirill Mikhailov, a spokesman for the Conflict Intelligence Team, told the newspaper that most of this reinforcement is from elite airborne units.

The Washington Post recalls that the Ukrainian authorities announced the counteroffensive. It is noted that Kyiv does not abandon the idea of returning to the south but is counting on increasing the supply of weapons and, of course, on the morale of the Ukrainian soldiers.

The American newspaper also quotes an interview with Ukrainian media by General Dmitry Marchenko, who complained that "unfortunately, the amount of military assistance that our Western partners have promised us is provided to us in small batches, which, in principle, makes it very difficult for us to carry out offensive actions."

At the same time, Marchenko noted that the early arming of the Ukrainian army with Western models of equipment would bring the victory of Ukraine closer.
