The armed mutiny that Prigozhin has started has the potential to affect the morale of the occupying forces.

This opinion was expressed at the roundtable "Prigozhin's mutiny and its impact on the political situation in Russia and the course of the Russian-Ukrainian war" at the Military Media Centre by chairman of the board of the public organization Centre for Military and Legal Studies, Aleksandr Musiyenko.

According to him, the demoralisation of the occupying forces may be influenced by a combination of several factors. Namely:

  • the insurgency unfolded against the backdrop of reports of Ukraine's successes in the southern and eastern directions;
  • impunity of the organisers of the "march on Moscow". Since the "Wagnerites" have not been punished for destroying several aircraft and killing 15 people.

This is the condition that will cause friction among the Russian military. Some will ask: why are the Wagnerians allowed to do so, while we are bent over here and forced to go in for assaults? And the second will be a part that will think: maybe we will do something like this too... And this means that the morale of the Russian military will be falling," said the expert.

Also during the round table discussion the possible reasons for sending Prigozhin to Belarus were discussed. Thus, the director of the program "Russian and Belarusian Studios" of the Foreign Policy Council "Ukrainian Prism" Yaroslav Chernogor expressed the opinion that Belarus could be used for the transfer of the "Wagnerians" to Africa.

Belarus can be used as a transit zone for throwing the Wagner fighters to Africa and strengthening the business, which brings the Kremlin elites super-profits, which are not taxed and do not go to the Russian budget," said Yaroslav Chernogor.

He also notes that there is no exact information about the number of "vagenerchists" who left for Belarus.

Earlier, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Defense Ministry Kirill Budanov said that the Wagner military group would no longer fight on the territory of Ukraine.
