Today, 1 August, two military Belarusian helicopters violated the airspace of Poland.
In order to clarify the current situation on the Polish-Belarusian border, Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak has convened a meeting of the Committee. This was reported by the Polish Ministry of Defence.
Polish Ministry of Defence reports that today, 1 August 2023, there was a violation of Polish airspace by two Belarusian helicopters, which were conducting exercises near the border.
It is reported that the Belarusian side had previously informed the Polish side about the exercise. The border violation occurred in the area of Bialowieza at a very low altitude, which made it difficult to detect by radar systems.
Therefore, this morning the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces said in its communiqué that Polish radar systems did not detect the violation of the country's airspace," the Polish Defence Ministry said.
Polish Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak ordered to increase the number of servicemen on the border and deploy additional forces and means, including attack helicopters.
Chargé d'affaires of Belarus will be summoned to the Polish Foreign Ministry to give explanations about the incident.
Earlier, residents of the village of Bialowieza, Podlasie region, published photos of Belarusian military helicopters flying over their houses in social networks.
