UA Animals tells what to do with pets in case of nuclear attack

Kiev does not rule out that Russia might use nuclear weapons against Ukrainians.
Pet owners should think ahead about pet safety in the event of a Russian nuclear strike. UA Animals writes about how to do it properly.
As the portal notes, first of all, you should think about food reserve for pets (dry or wet food, canned food, frozen food). You should also make sure you have some bottled water and medicines prescribed by the veterinarian in advance. Hygiene products such as wet wipes, disposable nappies, a spare small toilet and litter, soap, pet shampoo, plastic bowls and toys are also needed. The items should be in airtight bags.
If the enemy strikes, you should stay indoors with the animals. If the attacker catches you outdoors, you should shower and wash your pet after returning home. Put all dirty clothes in a bag and hide them away.
You should use the food from the bags you have prepared beforehand after the shock.
You will not be allowed outside for 48 hours. Therefore, the animal should be allowed to go home to relieve itself. For cats and small dog breeds, special litter trays are suitable. For large dogs diapers can be used.
Potassium iodide
It should not be given in advance.
If necessary and after being told to do so by the authorities, it should be given with food:
- 1 tablet 125 mg per 60 kg weight
- 3/4 tablet 93.75 mg per 40 kg body weight
- 1/2 tablet 62.5 mg per 30 kg body weight
- 1/4 tablet 31.25 mg per 20 kg body weight
- dilute 1/4 tablet in 15 ml water
- give 1 ml of this solution per 1 kg of weight
We shall remind you that the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant is occupied by the Russians and the Ukrainian authorities do not rule out that they are planning to carry out a terrorist attack there.
