Defence Ministry reveals why Russia lies about Zaluzhny's death

Deputy Defence Minister Anna Malyar drew attention in a TV marathon to the fact that Russia has been spreading fakes over the past two weeks about the alleged death of a number of Ukrainian commanders, including Valeriy Zaluzhnyy, the AFU commander-in-chief. According to her, this disinformation may have several explanations.

We have seen three such news stories in the past two weeks. These were in relation to Tantsura (Commander of the TrO forces), in relation to General Syrsky (Commander of the Army and Eastern Front) and in relation to Zaluzhny. There is no problem to call and make sure that everything is fine and the man is alive. But this is not just a fake," Malyar said.

According to her, we are talking about a 'false start' here.

When they are already up to something, they already have certain goals in mind. They just report the results in advance, perhaps to report 'to the top' or to analyse us," Malyar said.

Malyar said that the Defence Ministry has no doubts about the enemy's desire to eliminate the Ukrainian military and political leadership.

We have already talked about attempts on our president's life, but we have to understand that there is a threat to the life of our military leadership as well. Indeed, the Russians are practicing their movements. If anyone thinks that our commanders are sitting somewhere safe, they are not, they are always under personal threat," Malyar responded.

We shall remind you that Russian propaganda in early May took to spreading fakes on the Web about the alleged death of Zaluzhnyy, the commander of the Ground Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyy, and other military commanders.

In their turn, Western analysts believe that the rumours circulating about the death of someone from the Ukrainian leadership are aimed at slowing down the counteroffensive of the Ukrainian defenders.
