Defence Ministry reveals losses caused by bombing of military facilities during 2022


Bombing of military facilities has had a negative impact on the environment. According to the Ministry of Defence, the loss is almost 300 billion hryvnias.
This was reported by Major Vladyslav Dudar of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry's Environmental Safety and Mine Countermeasures Directorate during the round table "Land Damaged by War: How to Restore Soil after Military Operations and the Kakhovka Hydropower Plant Disaster?" at the Military Media Centre.
In total, the bombing of military facilities by the occupiers during 2022 is estimated at 298bn hryvnyas.
The speaker noted that this damage assessment takes into account pollution of territories and emissions into the atmosphere. The calculation was performed by a special working group with the participation of specialists from the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Armed Forces.
This year (2023-editor) we surveyed about 40 facilities and the corresponding calculations are now performed by the State Environmental Inspection," the representative of the Defence Ministry added.
He also stressed that the military prosecutor's office and the SBU opened criminal proceedings over all the recorded bombings.
