The Ministry of Defense assessed the risk of a new attack on Kyiv

The military-political leadership of Ukraine has no information about the offensive of the Russian troops on Kyiv in the near future. This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Anna Malyar during the telethon .

She said that neither the Ministry of Defense nor the Main Intelligence Directorate had data that would indicate an attack on Kyiv in the near future.

But we must understand that there is a constant threat to Kyiv and the entire territory of Ukraine, because we have a war. For the enemy, the easiest and fastest way to establish control over the whole of Ukraine is to capture the capital. Therefore, you need to be aware that the country is in a state of war and there are always such risks, - stressed Malyar.

She added that the source of information about a possible attack of the Russian troops on the capital is Russian propaganda, because this panic is beneficial to the enemy.

Yesterday we were looking for roots where information could first appear on social networks. And it should be said that these are, indeed, Russian sources, and our citizens, who are not indifferent, also made efforts, - said Malyar.

Malyar also denied the statement of the Russians about the occupation of Liman - the situation there is difficult, but the fighting continues.

She recalled that during the morning briefing, the Russian Defense Ministry stated that the DPR terrorist organization, together with the Russian military, had allegedly completely captured Liman.

Only information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine should be trusted, since "information is also a weapon," she stressed.

The Deputy Minister of Defense believes that the Russian authorities "can say anything" that the people in the Russian Federation want to hear.

She stressed that during the fighting, a certain part of the settlement may be temporarily under the control of one of the parties, but the situation may change as a result of the fighting. Nevertheless, Malyar stated that the situation there is difficult.

Commenting on the presence of a railway junction in Liman and the prospect of strengthening Russian troops by capturing the city, Malyar said that there is no need to consider the situation in fragments.

There are a lot of factors. In addition to the fact that there may be some advantageous geographical position or some kind of advantageous railway junction, there must be ways to deliver the same provisions, fuel and lubricants, logistics must be established ... This is a very complex issue, therefore it is not worth measuring their abilities with Liman alone, - said the Deputy Minister of Defense.
