Crime by Russians has increased in Crimea
Russian invaders have made 140 arrests in temporarily occupied Crimea since the beginning of 2023.
This is stated in a report by the Crimean Tatar Resource Centre (CRC), the Ukrainian Crisis Media Centre has reported.
In the temporarily occupied Crimea, the Russians conducted 37 searches, 101 detentions/detentions and 104 interrogations, interviews and conversations over 6 months. In total - 140 events. Most of the violations concerned the Crimean Tatar people.
Of the 37 searches, 29 took place in the homes of Crimean Tatars. For comparison, for the same period in 2022, 15 searches were recorded, the report said.
According to human rights activists, more often the occupants detain local residents for involvement in the organisations "Hizb ut-Tahrir" and "Jehovah's Witnesses" banned in the Russian Federation. They are also detained for evading service in the occupation army and justifying terrorism on social networks, as well as for promoting terrorism.
In addition, human rights activists became aware of the deaths of at least three people. Of them, two political prisoners of Crimean Tatar origin. Dzhemil Gafarov and Konstantin Shiring died due to the failure to provide proper medical care.
It is noted that the report of the Crimean Tatar Resource Centre included information on war crimes and human rights violations in Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions.
Since the beginning of the year, 34 forced abductions have been recorded in these territories. Also in the first half of the year, 265 murders were recorded in Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions, including the murder of teenagers in Berdyansk.
Earlier Socialportal reported that Russians killed two teenagers in temporarily occupied Berdyansk. The occupants massacred Tigran Oganesyan, who was held captive for almost a year. Later, the invaders themselves reported that they had actually killed two teenagers, calling them "pro-Ukrainian militants". The second young man was named Nikita Khanganov.
According to Human Rights Ombudsman Dmytro Lubints, the teenagers were tortured beforehand and their families were persecuted.
on 29 June, the relatives were supposed to say goodbye to the teenagers, but the Russians do not give the parents the bodies of the dead. Instead, the occupants moved the bodies to Melitopol in an attempt to cover up their crimes.
