400 bodies still unidentified in Kharkiv region

Forensic specialists are working to identify the bodies.

The identification of people who have become victims of the occupation in Kharkiv Region continues in the territories liberated from the Russians. More than 400 bodies still remain unidentified, the National Police has said on its Facebook page.

It is reported that since the start of work in the territories of Kharkiv region liberated from the Russian occupiers, forensic specialists have identified 199 bodies found in mass graves, in the streets, in houses and in spontaneous graves.

Among them are tortured, executed Ukrainians," the report said.

According to law enforcers, forensic specialists take DNA samples from relatives of the dead and, using mobile DNA laboratories at the scene of the accident, conduct research on the seized biological samples.

These DNA labs allow for 105 minutes to isolate a DNA profile of the deceased and compare it with samples taken from relatives... In Kharkiv Region alone, over 400 more bodies of dead people found in the de-occupied territories remain unidentified," the police said.
