DBI voiced probable causes of the plane crash in Zhytomyr region

The DBI is considering three versions of the plane crash in Zhytomyr Region that killed three Ukrainian pilots.

This was reported by the communications adviser of the State Bureau of Investigation, Tetyana Sapyan, in a commentary to Suspilny Zhytomyr.

on 25 August in the skies above Zhytomyr region there was a plane crash that killed three experienced pilots of the 40th tactical aviation brigade of the air command "Air Force Centre of the Armed Forces of Ukraine". Earlier it was reported that the tragedy occurred due to the collision of two L-39 combat trainer aircraft.

A little time has already passed from 25 August to today (28 August - ed.). Since both the AFU and law enforcers worked without weekends, we have fresh information as of this morning. According to preliminarily established circumstances, there is information that the crash occurred as a result of a collision between two aircraft during a turning manoeuvre. This is what we received this morning from the investigators with fresh information," Tatyana Sapyan said.

She added that more time is needed to establish the exact circumstances of the crash. In the near future, specialists from the General Staff of the AFU and Air Force command specialists will be involved in the investigation.

It is noted that in addition to the preliminary qualification (violation of flight rules or preparation for them), the investigation is considering three more versions.

These are such versions as technical malfunction of aircrafts, pilots' error or violations in the organisation of flights. In order to prove one of the versions and qualify offences, it is necessary to conduct a lot of expert examinations, which are not done in one day. These will be forensic medical examinations, examinations to decipher the black boxes - and this is the most important thing in this situation - and a comprehensive forensic aviation technical examination. We expect that these examinations will give understanding to the investigation on how it happened, - said the representative of the DBI.

We will remind, earlier in the AFU revealed the names of the dead pilots, one of them - a famous pilot "Juice", who participated in the air defence of Kiev.
