Britain says support for Ukraine will remain unchanged

The UK will not change its course of support for Ukraine.

London will remain Ukraine's ally in the war against Russia and will be with Kiev until the end. This was stated by British Defence Secretary Grant Shapps, CNN reported.

He stressed that Britain's support for Ukraine would not be affected by the US election and that the UK would continue to stand "shoulder to shoulder" with Ukraine regardless of the outcome of the US vote.

It will be some time before we see what happens in the US election, but we will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with our friends in Ukraine," Shapps said.

He emphasised that it is in the world's interest for Ukraine to remain a democratic country and expressed confidence that the Americans understand this.

We know what happens when we allow a tyrant to invade a neighbour and then move west. And it is absolutely essential that Putin cannot enter a neighbouring democratic state without consequences, and that is why the UK stands firm and we will continue to do so," he concluded.

It should be noted that the total amount of Britain's non-military aid to Ukraine is more than £4.7bn (almost $6bn). Britain's military aid to Ukraine has exceeded 2.3bn pounds since the beginning of the war.
