The EC head assured Ukraine of Europe's support.

The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, has backed Ukraine on the eve of a summit in London and stressed that the EU support could lead to a just and lasting peace in Ukraine. She wrote about this in social network X.

According to her, speaking about supporting Ukraine in the war against Russia, it is important not to forget at the same time to strengthen European defence.

On the way to London to emphasise Europe's continued support for Ukraine, which can lead to a just and lasting peace in Ukraine. leah to peace is strength. Weakness gives birth to new wars. We will support Ukraine with a surge of European defence," von der Leyen wrote.

It should be noted that on 2 March, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer hosts the leaders of more than a dozen European countries at a summit in the UK. The main topic is Russia's war against Ukraine and European security. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has arrived in London and is attending the summit.

The UK hopes that this meeting should make it possible to move closer to establishing a just and sustainable peace in the Ukrainian state. At the start of the summit, the UK prime minister emphasised that European leaders should activate this "moment, which is found only in every generation". Starmer emphasised that "a good peace outcome for Ukraine will also be vital for the security of countries across the continent".

A press conference by Keir Starmer is scheduled to follow the talks. And President Zelensky will meet with King Charles III.
