Almost half (46 per cent) of Ukrainians donate to the Ukrainian Armed Forces on a regular basis, from each of their salaries, an increase of nine percentage points since February 2023.

The Rakuten Viber team conducted a survey to find out how Ukrainians' donations to VSU have changed compared to the beginning of 2023. Almost 54 thousand users took part in an anonymous online survey in the official Rakuten Viber channel.

The results showed that 46% of Ukrainians make donations planned from each salary - this is 9 percentage points more than at the beginning of the year, - said in the survey results.

Rakuten Viber conducted a similar survey at the beginning of the year, which allows us to compare whether support for the VSU has changed. The results showed that in December 2023, 66% of Ukrainians donate to the WSU:

  • 46% do it regularly from each salary,
  • 14% donate after each shelling,
  • 6% donate a little bit every day.

Also, 25% of respondents help in other ways, and 4.5% serve in the AFU. Only 4% of respondents do not see the point in donations.

The distribution of answers to the question "Do you donate to the AFU and to acquaintances who serve?" in December 2023 changed as follows:

  • Yes, regularly from every paycheck - 46% (at the beginning of the year - 37%: the figure increased by 9 percentage points);
  • I help in other ways - 25% (at the beginning of the year - 29%: the figure fell by 4 percentage points);
  • Irregularly, but after each shelling I turn anger into donations - 14% (at the beginning of the year - 16.5%: the figure fell by 1.5 percentage points);
  • Of course, every day a little bit - 6% (at the beginning of the year - 6%: the indicator remained unchanged);
  • I serve in the AFU - 5 per cent (at the beginning of the year - 6.5 per cent: the figure fell by 1.5 percentage points);
  • I don't see the point in it - 4% (at the beginning of the year - 5%: the indicator fell by 1 percentage point).
