Ukraine will not agree to a "frozen conflict" - Zelensky
Ukraine will never agree to either of the frozen conflict options, because it will lead to war again.
The Ukrainian news agency UNIAN quoted Volodymyr Zelenskyy as saying this at a speech at the Verkhovna Rada.
Any frozen conflict is a war that is sure to flare up, and the only question is when and how many lives it will take. Ukraine will never agree to any of the options of frozen conflict. Not a single one," the president said.
At the same time, Zelenskyy said that Ukraine is able to set an example with its peace formula to other nations that are striving for a just peace.
According to him, one of the differences between Ukraine and Russia is that our country relies on alliances and does not try to turn its neighbours into slaves. Zelenskyy added that a dialogue on full EU membership should take place this year and that Ukraine was ready for it. According to him, it is not only economic association but also Ukraine's security, which is an element of association for the EU.
The President also talked about Ukraine's accession to NATO. According to him, membership of the alliance is not a dream, but a reality.
We are recipients of security assistance now, but after victory, Ukraine will be a donor of security for our region, for the whole Europe, for the whole world. Already now Ukraine is a donor of moral strength," Zelenskyy said.
Zelenskyy earlier commented on the possibility of holding an election in 2024.
