The figures for those killed and tortured in Bucha during the Russian occupation of the city in 2022 are still inconclusive, and many people are still missing.

Two years ago, on 27 February, Russian invaders entered Bucha. During 33 days of occupation in Bucha district, more than 9,000 war crimes were committed, more than 1,400 civilians were killed, including 37 children.

Those were terrible days, first of all, because of my service I saw a lot of violent deaths, but what we saw in Bucha cannot be compared to anything. These are the remains of a bonfire of human bodies, these are walls with people shot in the back of the head, these are bodies of dead people right on the street," said Andrei Nebitov.

According to the National Police, two years ago, 422 bodies of Ukrainian citizens were found in Bucha.

In the surrounding villages of Buchanskiy district 1,190 bodies were found. Almost a thousand of them, according to the deputy head of the National Police, died of violent death, "that is, they were shot or died of mine blast injuries."

Also, 514 residents of Kiev region are still missing, 180 bodies are unidentified.

Volodymyr Zelensky honoured the memory of Ukrainians who died during the occupation of the Kyiv region.

When our soldiers drove Russia out of Bucha, Irpen, Borodyanka, the entire Kyiv region, and then Sumy and Chernihiv regions - everyone could see that these were victories not only of Ukrainian courage and weapons, but also of human morality. Let the whole world never forget at what price this battle is given and what evil we stop here, on our land, when Ukrainians stop and expel Russian kafirs, - President Volodymyr Zelensky recalled those events in the morning.
