Its neutral flavour allows you to add a variety of ingredients and spices to dishes, creating mouth-watering and nutritious meals. Here is the easiest recipe for fried tofu.
And here are five easy and delicious tofu breakfast recipes to help you start your day right.
1. Tofu Scramble
Ingredients:
- 200g tofu
- 1 small onion
- 1 tomato
- 1 sweet pepper
- 1 garlic clove
- 1 tsp turmeric
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil
Preparation:
- Heat a frying pan with a little olive oil.
- Dice the onion, tomato and pepper, and finely crumble the garlic.
- Fry the onion and garlic until golden.
- Add the tomato and pepper and cook for a further 5 minutes.
- Mash the tofu with a fork and add it to the pan.
- Sprinkle with turmeric, salt and pepper and mix thoroughly.
- Cook for a further 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
2. Tofu with avocado and toast
Ingredients:
- 200g tofu
- 1 avocado
- 2 slices of wholemeal bread
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil
Preparation:
- Fry the tofu in a pan with a little olive oil until golden.
- Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit and scoop out the flesh.
- In a bowl, mash the avocado with a fork, add the lemon juice, salt and pepper.
- Toast the bread in a toaster or frying pan.
- Spread the avocado paste on the toast and top with the fried tofu.
3. Sweet tofu with berries and honey
Ingredients:
- 200g tofu
- 1 cup of fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
- 2 tbsp. honey
- 1 tbsp. lemon juice
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
Preparation:
- Cut the tofu into cubes.
- In a bowl, mix honey, lemon juice and cinnamon.
- Dip the tofu cubes into the honey mixture.
- Arrange tofu on plates, top with fresh berries.
4. Tofu with vegetables and soya sauce
Ingredients:
- 200g tofu
- 1 carrot
- 1 sweet pepper
- 1 small courgette
- 2 tbsp soya sauce
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation:
- Slice all the vegetables into straws.
- Heat a frying pan with olive oil.
- Fry the carrots and peppers for 5 minutes.
- Add the courgette and cook for a further 3 minutes.
- Dice the tofu and add it to the pan.
- Pour over the soya sauce, salt and pepper to taste.
- Cook for a further 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
5. Tofu in an omelette
Ingredients:
- 200 g tofu
- 3 eggs
- 1 tomato
- 1 small onion
- 1 tsp turmeric
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil
Preparation:
- Dice the onion and tomato.
- Fry the onion in a pan with a little olive oil until golden.
- Add the tomatoes and cook for a further 3 minutes.
- Crush the tofu with a fork and add it to the pan.
- In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs with the turmeric, salt and pepper.
- Pour the egg mixture into the pan and mix thoroughly.
- Cook over medium heat until the omelette is fully cooked.
