The Washington Post writes that Zelensky has only two options for the development of events and both are bad

The publication's analysts believe that the situation on the front is a stalemate.
The situation on the front has put President Vladimir Zelensky in a choice between two options, one of which is bad, and the second - even worse. This is stated in the publication of The Washington Post.
In particular, WP notes that what is happening on the front indicates that Zelensky is "stuck". There they point out that the Russian army is slowly but slowly advancing on the front, intensifying strikes on Ukrainian cities and destroying their infrastructure. Meanwhile, the US continues to discuss military aid to Ukraine, and Europe is unable to give Ukraine what it so urgently needs. In the opinion of the authors of the material, all this does not indicate an approaching victory.
The fighting has reached a stalemate, Ukrainians are dying on the battlefield every day. But they say that the ceasefire will give the Russians time to renew their forces and a new offensive," the publication says.
The main problem for the Ukrainian government has become the expectations of citizens who want to see the promised de-occupation of all territories, including Crimea.
Zelensky cannot start negotiations with the Russian Federation, as the public is not ready to surrender Ukrainian lands to the enemy and expects the same position from the country's leadership. At the same time, the Kremlin wants the complete surrender of Ukraine to be the only topic of discourse," the publication said.
The newspaper also noted that the mobilization, which is planned to be intensified in the country, poses new challenges for the authorities.
Large-scale mobilisation will lead to economic problems. The authorities cannot pay military salaries from foreign money, and some sectors are already facing labour shortages. Also, the Ukrainian economy is subjected to constant missile attacks and shelling, which scares away foreign investment," WP writes.
According to the newspaper's interlocutors, to whom it refers, such a situation may have a bad impact on the Ukrainian statehood. At the same time, it noted that the situation could be changed, but for this "other support is needed".
