- The state of Dnieper water pollution after the attack on the Dnipro hydroelectric power plant has been made public

Continuous monitoring of water pollution is carried out until the situation is fully stabilised and the consequences of the attack by Russian troops on the Dnieper HPP are eliminated.
Operational information about the pollution of the Dnipro River water as a result of terrorist actions of the Russian Federation on 22 March at the Dnipro HPP was reported by the Government Portal in the evening of 24 March.
According to the results of studies conducted by the laboratories of the State Water Agency and the State Environmental Inspection as of 24 March, a gradual improvement in the water quality indicators of the Dnipro River is recorded," the report said.
According to the results of water analyses revealed:
- exceeding the content of oil products in two sampling locations, namely on the right bank at a distance of 1.4 km from the Dnipro HPP - 4.2 times; and at a distance of 2.5 km from the Dnipro HPP - 2.9 times;
- at a distance of 4.4 km from Dneprovskaya HPP - no exceedances are recorded;
- increase in the hydrogen index (pH) from 8.63 to 8.75 pH units, while the norm is 6.5-8.5. Such values indicate water hardness and do not carry risks for the population. It may affect water quality properties such as taste and may cause sedimentation.
Only one territorial community, Belenkivska, draws water for drinking water supply from the lower bank of the Dnieper River.
Water samples were taken in the area of the drinking water intake of Belenkoye village downstream 30 kilometres from the Dnipro HPP. As of yesterday, the concentration of oil products exceeded 2.12 times.
The State Water Agency and the State Ecoinspectorate carry out constant monitoring until the situation is fully stabilised and the consequences are eliminated.
Samples are taken at the site of damage to the Dnieper HPP and in the most accessible places of the Dnieper River at a distance of one, one and a half and two kilometres below the dam.
Earlier it was reported that the troops of the Russian Federation on 22 March hit the hydraulic structures and the dam of the Dnieper hydroelectric power plant in Zaporizhzhya region. A fire broke out, there is no threat of a dam breach.
