Ukraine is discussing possible scenarios for ending the war, one of which could be a freezing of the conflict along the current front line.

Experts consider freezing the conflict along the existing front line as one of the possible scenarios for ending the war in Ukraine. An adviser to the head of the presidential office, Mykhaylo Podolyak, said this in an interview with the Italian edition of La Repubblica .

He stressed that at the moment Ukraine was considering such an option as one of the possible ones.

One of the scenarios for exiting the war is freezing the conflict along the front line. We are talking about the territories that are now occupied by Russia, and in practice they will remain under the control of the enemy," he said.

According to Podolyak, in the future the Ukrainian side will use economic, diplomatic and other tools to return these lands, despite the fact that de jure they remain Ukrainian. At the same time, any concessions to Russia are completely ruled out.

Handing over territories to the aggressor cannot be a way of ending the war. This would mean that the aggressor is not responsible for his actions, but on the contrary is being rewarded. Zelensky clearly stated: no territory will be handed over to Russia," the adviser to the head of the Presidential Office said.

He added that this approach is also in line with the Constitution.

It is impossible to simply give territory to an aggressor," Podolyak stressed.

He pointed out that in this case we are talking only about actual, not legal recognition of the temporarily occupied territories.

De jure, no one will recognise these lands as Russian," he concluded.

We shall remind you that US President Donald Trump said that Ukraine and Russia were already "in the process" of preparing a bilateral meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
