The "Losses.NO" project was created to bring truthful information to Russians.

Deputy Interior Minister of Ukraine Leonid Tymchenko has told journalists about the results of the Interior Ministry's project "Losses.NO". It was set up to counter Russian propaganda and disinformation narratives. This was reported by the National Police on 20 March.

"Losses.NO" combines data from all open sources to establish an objective picture of the losses of the Russian army, the military of the "LNR", "DNR", collaborators, etc., who took part in the armed aggression against Ukraine.

According to the Deputy Minister, the project started in 2022:

At the beginning of the large-scale invasion, we realised that there was a large amount of information about dead Russians. We started to systematise it. After the head of the Russian Ministry of Defence in September 2022 voiced the figures of their military losses, which were about 5 thousand, we decided to create such a resource. After all, according to the General Staff of the AFU the losses of the Russians for the same period were at least 10 times more.

Now in the database "Losses.NET" 72 012 confirmed facts about the losses of the Russian army and other military formations. Students and cadets of the National Academy of Internal Affairs, Odessa State University of Internal Affairs and Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs are engaged in searching for information, processing, analysing and publishing it on the website.

The National Academy of Internal Affairs has been involved in the MIA project since 1 March 2023. During this time we have collected information on more than 40 thousand killed enemies. This work is a source of available information about real losses - an important element of information warfare, - said the head of the analytical department of the Centre for Criminal Analytics, head of the working group Dmitry Ovsyanyuk.

The main thing in the project "Losses.NO", according to Leonid Timchenko, is to bring truthful information to Russians.

Collecting information from social networks and open sources, it is necessary to check it qualitatively. The information gets into our database and the portal only after it has been checked by moderators. There must be at least two sources for each fact. We record information received from open sources - we make screenshots. As practice shows, later such information from open sources may disappear. the Russian authorities today even forbid publishing obituaries. This is a confirmation that the Russian authorities artificially distort information about the real losses of their military," the deputy head of the Interior Ministry stressed.

The resource "Losses.NET" publishes not only statistics of losses among Russians, but also data on the number of men/women, statistics of losses by military rank, search by name or surname.
