The best city on Earth to live in has been named

Europe took the entire top 10.
Europe has once again proved its superiority in the quality of life: 38 European cities have been included in the top 50, and the Swiss city of Bern has been recognised as the best city on the planet. TimeOut writes about it, referring to a global study by ECA International.
Experts analysed 275 cities of the world, assessing safety, quality of housing, infrastructure, access to medicine, air purity, climate, political stability and even social activity of residents. The result was impressive: all 10 first positions were taken by European cities, which emphasises decades of investment in the environment, transport and health care.
ECA notes that this result "reflects Europe's consistent strategy of creating a safe, clean and comfortable living environment."
Remarkably, no European city was ranked among the worst - the contrast with other regions was stark.
Why Bern?
The Swiss capital is a cosy, peaceful city that has grown up around the graceful curve of the Aare River. Its 12th century Old Town is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and among the residents' favourite spots:
- Freibad Marzili with its clear turquoise water,
- Kulturzentrum Reitschule with concert, theatre and cinema venues.
