Lights may start going off to users in light grey areas of the timetable

Ukrainians should be prepared for the critical situation of blackouts to continue until spring.
This was announced by Sergei Kovalenko, director of the capital's energy supplier, Yasno. According to him, the blackouts may be extended in time.
The volumes of restrictions are now such that the lights are most likely to be cut in the light grey zones of the schedule. It is hard to accept after a long time without blackouts, but this is our new reality now. Generation will not increase, but consumption is growing. So the same deficit is getting bigger.
According to Kovalenko, there is usually a balance between the volumes of electricity for households and businesses, but over the New Year holidays, households were not disconnected precisely because businesses were disconnected.
The main task of the dispatchers is to connect critical infrastructure. These facilities should be connected continuously; they are the top priority. Those are hospitals, fire department, utility companies. Usually, they consume about 25-30% of the total volume. The rest goes to users and businesses.
Also, the director of the company said that by the end of March we have to be ready for any situation.
Russia started using drones and missiles for massive strikes on the Ukrainian energy system in October. During this time, it has managed to temporarily disable a significant part of the system. Both planned and emergency power cuts are taking place in Ukraine.
