Starmer told how he felt watching Zelensky and Trump talk
Before Zelensky's visit to the US, Starmer visited Trump and discussed the Ukraine issue with him.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer told reporters that he watched the meeting and conversation in the Oval Office between Zelensky and Trump and Vance. In doing so, Starmer noted that he "felt uncomfortable" watching the argument between the presidents. With this, he told the BBC.
He emphasised that "nobody wanted to see something like that".
It is known that after the conflict in the White House, Starmer called both the Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky and the head of the White House Donald Trump. He noted that the main topic of conversation in both the first and the second case was the issue of long-term and reliable peace for Ukraine, as well as security guarantees for Europe.
As journalists point out, Starmer tried to persuade both sides to return to signing an economic agreement, but both politicians responded with a refusal.
A summit on Ukraine will be held in London on Sunday, 2 March. It will be attended by the leaders of more than 10 states, the EU and NATO leadership. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, as well as the leaders of France, Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Canada, Finland, Sweden, the Czech Republic and Romania will take part in the summit. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President António Costa will also attend.
Among the main topics of the summit are strengthening Ukraine's position now - including continued military support and increased economic pressure on Russia, planning reliable security guarantees, and discussing the US position.
