It became known how many Ukrainian doctors left the country since the beginning of the war, how many died.
Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, 12 civilian medical workers have been confirmed dead. This was announced by the Minister of Health Viktor Lyashko on the air of the information telethon.
To date, there are 12 civilian medical workers who have died. These are the numbers that are backed up by statistics. But, unfortunately, this figure is higher, and there are dead medical workers who went to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to protect the borders of our country and help rescue servicemen on the front line,” he said.
According to Lyashko, since the beginning of the war, more than 700 healthcare facilities have been damaged, more than 100 of them have been destroyed to the ground.
The minister also added that doctors in the occupied territories will continue to receive salaries.
According to official figures, about 2,280 medical workers have left Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion. This is only about 0.5% of Ukrainian doctors.
According to the head of the Ministry of Health, there were about 143,000 doctors and 261,000 nurses in Ukraine before the war. Now, according to our registers, 2,273 health workers have left Ukraine, including doctors and nurses, excluding nurses.
Lyashko stressed that the number of doctors who left does not affect the availability of medical care and medical services in Ukraine.
