It is known how many pensioners are in the disaster zone in Kherson Oblast

After the cynical blowing up of the Kakhovska hydroelectric dam by the Russians, water has flooded parts of Kherson Oblast. The situation is particularly dire on the left bank, which is controlled by the occupiers.
The Verkhovna Rada committee for social policy said that many people of retirement age found themselves in the disaster zone in Kherson Region. They stressed that about 14,000 pensioners were registered in the areas affected by the explosion of the Kakhovka hydropower plant, of whom 2,387 people received pensions through Ukrposhta branches, which means that they were definitely in those territories.
The report said that as of 7 June 2023, 29 settlements were flooded. Of these, 19 were in the territory controlled by Ukraine, namely Kherson (Korabel microdistrict), Dniprovske village, Sadovne village, Nikolne village, and Kherson city. Садовое, с. Никольское, с. In the temporarily occupied territory the cities of Nova Kakhovka, Oleshki and Hola Prystan, the villages of Krynki, Korsunka, Dnipryany, Peschanoye, Novye Lagery, Cossack Camps and Peschanovka are flooded.
The VRU committee stressed that those who found themselves in the occupied part of the Kherson region could not get out. The occupants do not allow them to leave the disaster zone and do not provide any assistance to the people. Moreover, according to eyewitnesses, they are shooting at those who are trying to get out of the flooded settlements on their own.
The report said that the final official information on the scale of possible human casualties in the occupied territories from the floods caused by the explosion of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant will be available after the water falls.
We would like to add that the head of the Kherson regional state administration, Oleksandr Prokudin, said that from the evening of 9 June until the morning of 10 June, the water receded by 31 centimetres, but rains are expected in the region, which may aggravate the situation.
