Sibiga reacted to the execution of Ukrainian military in Kursk region


In the Kursk region, Russian army officers shot nine Ukrainian soldiers.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibyga in X (Twitter). condemned the execution of Ukrainian soldiers by the Russians and called on the world community to react harshly to the executions carried out by the Russians on Ukrainians .
Russia's brutal treatment of Ukrainian prisoners of war is absolute barbarism, a gross violation of international humanitarian law, laws and customs of war," he wrote.
Sibiga emphasised that executions of Ukrainian prisoners of war are happening more and more often.
According to UN data, 95 per cent of prisoners of war are tortured and denied basic needs," the foreign minister said.
Sibiga called on the international community to issue warrants of the International Criminal Court (ICC) for the arrest of Russian criminals, to increase sanctions pressure, to demand access of international observers and medics to detention centres and to facilitate the release of prisoners of war and all illegally detained persons.
For his part, Prosecutor-General Andriy Kostin said that the Prosecutor-General's Office had opened criminal proceedings over the possible shooting of nine Ukrainian prisoners of war in Russia's Kursk Region.
The investigation is being conducted on the fact of violation of laws and customs of war, coupled with premeditated murder (part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The Prosecutor General noted that the killing of prisoners of war is a gross violation of the Geneva Conventions and an international crime.
We are doing everything to identify and punish all the perpetrators of the crimes that the aggressor country commits against Ukraine and Ukrainians," Kostin said.
