Sibiga expects Trump to attend Zelensky's meeting with Putin

Ukraine continues to prepare for possible talks between Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin, putting forward its own conditions and proposals on the format of the meeting.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga has said that the Ukrainian side would like to see US President Donald Trump at possible talks between Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Vladimir Putin. He said this at a briefing, reportsUkrinform.

Sibiga emphasised that Ukraine is preparing for the meeting of leaders, which may take place in an expanded format.

We would very much like President Trump to join it. We also insist that Europe must necessarily be at the negotiating table," the Minister said.

In addition, Sibiga confirmed that the Vatican is considered as a potential venue for the meeting, despite the scepticism of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

Recall, earlier Vladimir Zelensky stated his readiness to meet with Putin on 15 May and wanted Trump to attend the meeting. However, the negotiations in Turkey did not take place.
