Sweden boycotts UEFA tournaments over Russian Federation's admission to the national team

The Swedish Football Association does not agree with UEFA 's decision to allow Russian national teams under 17 to participate in UEFA tournaments.

According to the board of the confederation, the Swedish national team (adult and youth) should still not play matches against Russia either in Sweden or abroad.

We fully support the position agreed by the National Sports Confederation together with the Swedish Olympic Committee, Paralympic Committee and special sports associations - Russian and Belarusian athletes should not be allowed to participate in international competitions while the war against Ukraine continues," reads the statement.

In May 2024, the final of the Formula 17 European Championship will be held in Sweden. In accordance with the above, the Swedish Football Association will not allow the Russian national team, which could have qualified for this tournament, to participate in it.
