Spying for Russia: Russian and Belarusian to be tried in Poland


The trial of a Russian and a Belarusian man accused of espionage in favour of Russia has started in the Bialystok District Court.
Ukrinform quoted TVP.INFO as saying this.
According to the investigation, the suspects were involved in the activities of Russian military intelligence on military facilities of importance for Polish defence. The service found that the men had been legally present on the territory of Poland for many years. In particular, the Belarusian had studied in Bialystok and worked in the parachute training organization. The Russian, on the other hand, was engaged in cultural and tourist activities.
They face up to ten years imprisonment for espionage.
According to the report, the suspects were detained in Poland in April 2022. Both were charged with the crime under Article 130 of the Polish Criminal Code (espionage).
