SBU disarms agent network that included members of Ukraine's special services
The SBU has disarmed an FSB agent network that included former and current officials of Ukraine's special services.
The SBU has neutralised a powerful agent network of the FSB military counterintelligence service operating in Ukraine. This was reported by the SBU on 6 February.
As a result of a multi-stage special operation, five members of the enemy group were detained in different regions of Ukraine. Among them are former officials of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Defence Ministry and the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, as well as an employee of the regional department of the SBU," the report said.
The task of this agent network was to transfer to the Russian Federation intelligence about the Defence Forces and strategically important energy facilities of Ukraine.
According to the investigation materials, the former foreign intelligence official was recruited by the FSB even before the full-scale invasion while on duty. He collected information on the locations of the Ukrainian military and on the channels of transferring foreign weapons to Ukraine.
The Russian agent also passed secret information to the FSB about the specifics of the operation and security system of the Rivne and Khmelnytskyi nuclear power plants.
Another Russian agent, who had previously served in the GUR, passed personal data of Ukrainian defenders to the aggressor. Another agent, an employee of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), scouted geolocations of fortifications and engineering barriers near the coastline of Odessa region for the occupants.
According to the investigation, the FSB recruited members of the group using, among other things, threats to kill their families. In addition, for each completed task, the attackers received funds from the Russian Federation, - specified in the SBU.
The SBU investigators informed five participants of the Russian agent network of suspicion under Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason).
They have been elected a measure of restraint in the form of detention. The investigation is continuing to bring all the enemy accomplices to justice.
