SBU detains traitor MP who 'betrayed' his father to the enemy

SBU counterintelligence officers have detained a deputy of one of the village councils in Kherson Region, who defected to the enemy during the seizure of the region. One of the first people the traitor "turned in" was his father, who opposed the armed aggression of the Russian Federation. This is reported by the SBU.

The MP at the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation met the columns of Russian troops. During the occupation, he was one of the first to offer the occupiers his help in the war against Ukraine. For this purpose, he began to "surrender" to the Russians the places of residence of resistance movement members and their families.

One of the first people the traitor "surrendered" was his father, who had a pro-Ukrainian position and opposed the armed aggression of the Russian Federation. The patriot father was taken to the local Russian detention centres. There he was subjected to numerous tortures, by which they tried to induce him to cooperate," the SBU said.

The MP-traitor was appointed to the occupation administration established on the territory of the community under the leadership of Gauleiter Saldo. There the figure was responsible for the distribution of "humanitarian aid" from the Russian Federation among supporters of the Kremlin regime.

The traitor was also repeatedly involved in looting the homes of local residents and kidnapping people who resisted the invaders and their henchmen. In addition, the figure was "on duty" with weapons at Russian checkpoints and "quartered" the occupants in the homes of refugees.

After the liberation of the settlement, he stayed on the territory of the community, where he tried to "lie low" and thus avoid justice. The SBU located the traitor and detained him.

During the searches he was confiscated:

• a passport of a citizen of the Russian Federation, which he received in June 2022;
• a party card of the banned Party of Regions;
• propaganda symbols of the aggressor country and other material evidence of illegal activities.

The detainee was reported on suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:

• ч. 2, article 111 (high treason committed under martial law);
• ч. 2 Art. 111-1 (collaboration activities).

He was taken into custody. The perpetrator faces life imprisonment.
