Zelensky reveals how many civilians have been returned from Russian captivity
The Ukrainian side continues to work on the return of civilian prisoners. A total of 140 Ukrainian citizens have been returned home since the start of the full-scale invasion.
This was told to journalists by the Ukrainian President after a meeting with the Estonian Prime Minister in Zhytomyr.
According to Zelensky, the total number of released prisoners of war is 2,238, of which 140 are civilians.
We are working on the liberation of both military and civilians. Of course, torture occurs primarily against the heroes of our state, those who defended. We are constantly working and will continue doing so", stressed the President.
It should be noted that according to the Ukrainian parliamentary commissioner for human rights, Dmytro Lubinets, the Russians are holding more than 20,000 Ukrainian civilians captive. Around 800 of them were taken out of Kiev Region by the occupiers. However, Lubinets stressed that the exact number of captives among civilians was unknown.
