Russian mine blows up cargo ship in the Black Sea

A Panama-flagged civilian vessel exploded on a Russian sea mine in the Black Sea. The ship was on its way to one of the Danube ports to load grain. This was reported by the Defence Forces of southern Ukraine on 28 December.
The ship lost its course and control, a fire broke out on the upper deck. To avoid flooding, the captain fixed the vessel on the shoal, - stated in the message.
The boats of the Maritime protection and search and rescue service immediately rendered assistance to the crew, brought medics on board.
Two sailors were injured. One was treated on the spot, the second wounded was taken to the nearest hospital for further examination accompanied by medics. His condition is satisfactory.
Tugboats have been sent to the vessel to remove it from the shoal and bring it to the port.
The defence forces continue to ensure the safety of civilian shipping in conditions of dense enemy mines in the sea.
