On the morning of 18 August, Russian forces again attacked Kharkiv with attack drones.



A large-scale fire broke out as a result of one of the Shaheds hitting a residential building, there are dead and dozens of injured, among them children. According to the city mayor Igor Terekhov, the first explosions occurred around 04:48. A direct hit on a multi-storey building was recorded in the Industrial district. The fire engulfed several floors in two entrances. There was a threat that there were people under the rubble.

The head of the Kharkiv OVA Oleg Sinegubov reported that initially a 25-year-old man and a 79-year-old woman were injured. Later, the number of victims and injured grew significantly.

By 05:50 it became known about 15 wounded, among them four children. A 6-year-old boy, a 16-year-old teenager and a 17-year-old girl needed medical attention. Six victims were hospitalised.

At 06:24 rescuers found the bodies of four dead, including a one-year-old child. The total number of injured reached 17 people, six of them children. Later, another man was rescued from under the rubble.

The day before, in the evening of 17 August, the Russians struck the same area of Kharkiv with a ballistic missile. Then more than ten high-rise buildings were damaged, more than a thousand windows were blown out, and cars were damaged. Eleven residents were injured and suffered an acute stress reaction.
