Russian Federation attacked with ballistics and more than 400 drones: how many were shot down by air defences

On the night of 16 July, Russian troops launched a massive strike on the territory of Ukraine, using a ballistic missile and over 400 drones of various types.

According to theTelegram channel of the AFU Air Force, the enemy used a ballistic missile of the Iskander-M type, as well as about 400 Shahed attack drones and imitation drones. The launches were carried out from the territory of temporarily occupied Crimea, as well as from the Russian regions of Shatalovo, Bryansk, Kursk, Millerovo and Primorsko-Akhtarsk.

To repel the attack, all components of the air defence forces were involved: aviation, anti-aircraft missile forces, electronic warfare units, mobile fire groups and unmanned vehicles of the Ukrainian Defence Forces.

As of 8:30, the destruction of 198 attack drones over the northern, southern, eastern and central regions of the country was confirmed. In addition, 145 imitation drones were suppressed by electronic warfare means.

According to the Air Force, one ballistic missile hit and 57 drones were recorded over 12 localities. Also recorded were falling debris of downed targets in two locations.

As a result of the strike on Kharkiv there were 17 explosions in a short period of time. At least three people were injured. In Krivoy Rog, a missile was first recorded, followed by a massive Shahed drone attack. In the city there are large-scale power outages, possible interruptions in water supply. Vinnitsa and Odessa regions also came under enemy fire.
