Russian agent travelled 100 km daily to spy on the AFU
The SBU has detained a Russian spy who travelled about 100 km every day to identify AFU positions near Avdiivka and Maryinka.
The SBU counterintelligence service has unmasked another FSB spy who was reconnoitring the deployment and movement of the Defence Forces in Donetsk Region. This is reported by the SBU.
In the zone of special attention of the figure was the places of basing of the AFU units, which are involved in combat operations in Avdiivka and Maryinka directions, - reported in the intelligence service.
To collect intelligence information, she travelled around settlements in the areas of Kurakhovo, Mirnohrad, Selidovo, Novogrodovka and Mikhailovka. To identify and fix positions of Ukrainian troops, she could travel by public transport about 100 kilometres near the front line in a day.
The SBU officers timely exposed the Russian spy, documented her criminal actions and detained her in her own home.
The defendant is a 33-year-old resident of Novogrodovka, who was remotely recruited by a FSB officer in October 2023.
To communicate with the FSB, the defendant used an anonymous chat room in messenger, and transmitted information in the form of text messages and marks on electronic maps.
For completed tasks, the attacker received a cash reward from her Russian handler, which was transferred to her bank card.
Investigators of the SBU informed the detainee of suspicion under part 2 of article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law).
Now she is in custody. The investigation is continuing to establish all the circumstances of the offence. The attacker faces life imprisonment.
