There will be no collapse in Ukraine's energy system despite Russian shelling in the cold season.

The Russian Federation will not achieve a collapse in Ukraine's energy system despite the attempts of shelling in cold weather. This was stated by the head of the board of the National Electricity Company Ukrenergo, Volodymyr Kudrytskyy, during a telethon, Socialportal reported.

He reminded that Russia has already made massive strikes during periods of cold weather, such cases were recorded more than 20 times.

This, of course, will create additional problems for us, but I am sure that it will be a matter of duration of possible interruptions in power supply due to damage to any facilities. However, there will be no collapse in the energy system. The enemy will not achieve it," Kudrytskyy said.

According to him, cold weather is a test for any energy system. In order for Ukraine to avoid blackouts, it is necessary to:

  • to bring to work all power units of the power plants that are under current repair;
  • to fully utilise the 1,700 MW technical import capacity opened at the end of 2023.

Kudrytskyy also noted that Ukrainians can help by consuming electricity sparingly during peak hours.
