Russia plans to connect Zaporozhye NPP to its system
The Russian Federation plans to “switch” the ZNPP to Crimea, but for this it is necessary to turn off the entire occupied south.
The head of Energoatom Petr Kotin spoke about the plans of the Russians to switch the ZNPP to the Crimea. He spoke about this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
Petr Kotin believes that the Russian troops purposefully previously damaged power lines by firing at them in order to subsequently connect the Zaporizhzhya NPP from Dzhankoy.
On Friday they started shelling and damaged three lines. As a result, the Zaporizhzhya NPP remained on one line. We are preparing to repair all the damage, we have prepared people and materials for repairs in order to switch back on all the lines that were, - Petr Kotin notes.
They (to the Russians, - ed.) submitted to ZAES a special switching program for supplying voltage for the needs of ZAES from the 330 kV Dzhankoy substation. It is necessary for electrical engineers to carry out the relevant work, and it is all written in it. They completely disconnect the Zaporozhye station from the Ukrainian energy system and the entire south, and then gradually from Dzhankoy they begin to power everything back on the Russian frequency - to Kakhovka and then to ZAES, - the head of Energoatom added.
Petr Kotin also said that the Russian Federation put Ukraine before the fact that they would feed the Zaporizhzhya NPP from Dzhankoy.
They did not warn us, but simply handed over the program, in which it is written - powering the Zaporizhzhya NPP from Dzhankoy, - Petr Kotin specified.
Petr Kotin added that the Armed Forces of Ukraine could interrupt the power lines leading from the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant if the Russian Federation starts disconnecting it from the Ukrainian energy system.
It will be the right decision from the point of view of Ukraine - to kill them the lines that they are going to connect. I think our Armed Forces will be ready to do this if the need arises,” Kotin said.
