The Trump administration promises to stop Russian aggression within 100 days, while at the same time, they agree it will be difficult to do so.
US Secretary of State Mark Rubio has discussed with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte ways to end Russia's war in Ukraine. This is stated in a message on the website of the White House.
Rubio and Rutte discussed the foreign policy of the administration of President Donald Trump and what the White House will focus on. During the conversation, the US Secretary of State noted the United States' unwavering commitment to NATO and the importance of the Alliance to the security of the Alliance countries.
The sides focused on the need to strengthen the defence capabilities of the Allies, as well as the fair distribution of the financial burden among the Alliance members. In particular, it was a question of increasing the contributions of NATO countries for their own defence. As is known, Donald Trump believes that all members of the Alliance should spend 5% of their GDP on military needs.
Separately, Rutte and Rubio emphasised the need to stop Russia's war against Ukraine and to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
Mark Rubio and Mark Rutte also noted the strategic interconnection between the Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific regions. They agreed on the importance of strengthening co-operation between these regions to overcome common challenges and threats.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently noted the importance of ending the war between Russia and Ukraine, saying that "it will be the official policy of the United States. Rubio said that the Trump administration wants to ensure peace between Russia and Ukraine and ensure that it is sustainable."
