The aggressor country is deliberately making the territory of Ukraine uninhabitable.

Russia has become Europe's biggest eco-criminal. Most of its criminal actions in the field of ecology are connected with the war unleashed by the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine

At the main climate forum of the year, Ukraine will demonstrate to the world community the environmental consequences of Russia's military aggression. According to Ruslan Grechanik, First Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, Ukraine and its environment have already suffered damage due to the war on a scale that Europe has never known before:

The aggressor country is deliberately destroying our hydro-technical infrastructure, oil depots, thermal power plants and other energy facilities than can make the environment uninhabitable for decades

As an example, he cited an ecological disaster on the Ingulets river:

There, the enemy destroyed the dam of the Karachunovskoye reservoir, as a result of which a large amount of sewage, waste and sewage washed into the water basin

Also because of the strikes on oil depots and fuel storage facilities, fires broke out and more than 499,000 tons of toxic substances were released into the atmosphere.

In addition, more than 12,000 apartment buildings, more than 100,000 private farmsteads and about 500 industrial enterprises have been destroyed or damaged by the occupants, and the toxic substances that have soared are being disseminated and deposited all over Europe.

Ruslan Grechanik said that at the UN-sponsored COP27 forum on climate change, Ukraine initiated the process of discussing common approaches to the assessment of environmental and climate change damage caused by military operations

The forum should result in real projects to restore the environment in Europe, including Ukraine
