Rolls-Royce and Energoatom are to build a power plant with a factory small modular reactor.

This is according to Energoatom's press service.

According to official information, NNEGC Energoatom has signed a memorandum of understanding with Rolls-Royce. The signing of this agreement involves a joint search for opportunities for the upcoming deployment of small modular reactors (SMRs) from the British company.

Rolls-Royce SMR under the MoU is committed to supporting the rebuilding of Ukraine by deploying a power plant with a factory-built small modular reactor that will be capable of generating enough carbon-free electricity to power a million homes for more than 60 years.

The cooperation between Energoatom and Rolls-Royce SMR has reached a new level. Today, we have signed an agreement which will not only enable Ukraine to embark on a qualitative post-war rebuilding of its energy infrastructure, but will also make it one of the first countries in the world to bring promising small modular reactor technology to the table.

It is worth recalling that Ukraine wants to build 20 small modular reactors to replace the thermal power units destroyed during the war.
