Refugees with disabilities have problems processing payments in Poland

Poland requires Ukrainians to confirm certificates of disability from their specialists.
Polish volunteers said that refugees with disabilities need confirmation from Polish doctors in order to process payments in Poland. It is reported by Bankier.pl.
We help them in official matters, especially in obtaining PESEL numbers and related benefits for people with disabilities, - Katarzyna Popelar, coordinator of the Mudita Society, which helps Ukrainians.
Katarzyna Popelarz said that Ukrainian disability certificates are not listed in Poland.
Polish offices do not respect Ukrainian documents, Polish documents are needed, and this is due to the translation of medical documentation, which is very expensive, says the coordinator.
At first we used volunteer translators, but this is no longer the case. Depending on the case, sometimes one translation of the certificate of incapacity for work is not enough and a visit to the doctor is required, says Katarzyna Popelář.
In addition to the difficulties with processing payments, Ukrainian refugees face people with disabilities in Poland, there is housing. In Krakow and Warsaw it is not enough.
It is difficult to convince people with disabilities to go to a smaller city. They fear that without access to doctors, emergency care or rehabilitation. Also, there are not enough assistants for people with disabilities who would provide comprehensive assistance in official, legal or logistical matters, says Katarzyna Popelář.
Social housing adapted to the needs of people with disabilities would be a lifesaver, concludes the coordinator.
