Dutch intelligence: Russia preparing sabotage in the North Sea

The Russian Federation is collecting data on energy facilities in the Netherlands.

This was reported by the NOS broadcaster, citing the head of military intelligence at MIVD, Jan Svillens.

Svillens said that a Russian vessel was collecting data on Dutch wind farms in the North Sea:

This was detected in time and dealt with adequately. The vessel was diverted.

Swillens added:

The threat to the Netherlands is higher than it first appears. In addition to wind farms, Russia is also interested in internet cables and gas pipelines.

Intelligence believes that there remains the threat of an attack on other vital installations, such as drinking water points.
