Ukraine makes official request to the Netherlands for F-16s
The transfer of fighter jets would be difficult to negotiate because permission is needed from the US.

Dutch Defence Minister Kajsa Allengren has already confirmed that Ukraine has made a request for the transfer of the F-16 fighters.
However, the politician immediately noted that this is not an easy request to resolve.
We must discuss the availability of F-16s with the Americans and other allies. And we must look at the consequences seriously, it cannot happen overnight. We must be honest about this. We are very serious about the request, but the fighter jets are not so easy to solve.
In addition, there is another fact standing in the way of F-16 deliveries to Ukraine from the Netherlands. F-16 fighters are a US defence system. And deliveries require permission from the US government. Here we should recall that US President Joe Biden recently said - talk of supplying aircraft to Ukraine is not on the agenda yet.
